Events in gb
GB LIFE:-
There is no shortage of entertainment here in the GB.It starts with the TV room located in front of the block.Be it important world cup matches or movie premiers, the TV room witnesses a packed enthusiastic audience.
Then there is the NC (night canteen), the gossip hotspot of the GB!! Be it interacting with seniors, getting to know the latest events happening in the college or the typical silly girly gossip :P and yeah, there’s always the food. A gifted retreat from the mess food which ..lets face it..does get boring eventually! The cuisines offered include North-Indian and Chinese; Ice creams,Juices,Milkshakes - definitely a wide variety of options to beat the heat.
Complementary to this,is the boys’ NC which also delivers quality food to the GB.
For all the sport enthusiasts and fitness freaks, the GB offers the facilities of a basketball court (often multi-purpose :P) and a newly opened gym in the mega block. The court also equipped with standard floodlights houses the holi mela-an annual fair. The gym boasts of the latest equipments and is subjected to specific work hours.
One couldn't possibly ask for anything more…well with the inclusion of a salon which is open from 10:00 am to 7:00 pm. No need to compromise on beauty and hair care while in GB :P
But the fun does not end there ; the midnight “happy birthdays” , the singing and dancing around, the screaming while watching horror movies at the middle of the night, the all night series marathons and the endless chatting away into the wee hours of the morning ( Ah it will happen more often than you expect!!). Block timings might be there, but the actual fun begins after that.
Homesickness will definitely be there, but after experiencing all this, home will be boring.
Be it the akkas, the friends and the hostel, it is rightly said that college days are the best days of our lives!
GB FRESHERS:-
Well the most memorable GB events in our 1st year was the Freshers party.
Friendship’s day party came within a month of our joining the college. Posters were put up by our seniors asking us to be ‘dressed in our best’, and we sure did! Held in the mess, which was beautified by colored lights and ribbons, there was music, dance, cold drinks and lots of fun. It was certainly a celebration of the new friendships that had been forged in just a month into college.
New year’s was pretty similar, except that most of us were dressed in our night clothes :P and there was an additional yummy cake from Crumbz.
Freshers’ was, I think, the most memorable of them all. There was a dress code- we had to wrap up our bedsheets over us like a toga, make crowns and bracelets out of flowers and leaves, oil and braid our hair, and stick bindis over our necks to form necklaces. Yup, it does sound ridiculous, and it was! But it was fun too. We interacted with a lot of the 2nd year seniors, danced, ate and made merry. :D
So ya, GB is certainly a ‘happening’ place!
