hostel life(girls)

Picture
The main aspect of our college life, our home away from home; and it does not take much time for it to become the home you will never forget! The unforgettable journey begins from the gates of the fortress….fondly known as the GB.

Situated at the right corner of the NITK campus,it is secluded by a high compound. The girls block mainly comprises of 4 blocks -GH-1, GH -3 (this is where the first years stay), GH-4 and GH-5. Also alongside are the two messes - Indian Hostel (IH) and Girls Hostel (GH) mess.

GH-1
It is allotted to third years. The block has a rectangular layout with about 20 rooms on a floor. There are 2 bathrooms - 6 individual bath facilities per floor.

The good news is that the rooms have proper tiling and huge Godrej almirahs (this is the ONLY block which provides this)! Wifi is really fast; which is a big advantage.

So all in all, the block is very spacious, has unlimited water supply and great rooms. The memories and fun will make it worth the other trivial adversities.

GH-3:
All the first and second year girls are assigned rooms in this block.

The block is in the same complex as the GH and the IH mess. The block has 4 floors each of which has 2 wash areas except the basement which has 1. It’ll be 3 girls in a room, generally all 3 from 1st year. Each room has 2 LAN ports, 2 wardrobes, a tube light and a fan .

Since the rooms were meant for double occupation, one may find it a bit congested initially, but having lived there, can assure, that it is a fleeting feeling. Also, this block sees fewer water shortages and power cuts (this is the only block with a generator). There is a washing machine also in the 2nd floor of this block.

PG Block
GH-4:
It consists of single room accommodation mainly meant for third year and PG students. Make sure you ask someone the way before you enter this block, it can get very confusing. Almost everyone gets lost in this block :P

GH-5:
It is the newest block which consists of single rooms meant for final years and a few lucky 3rd years. Each room is equipped with a study table, wooden cupboard with fancy lights inside and a cot. There are two washing machines in this block and life here is quite luxurious compared to the other blocks.
